Davy Jones BandJohnny J Blair: bass, vocals. Johnny (“Singer at Large”) has been working with Davy Jones, on stage and in the studio, since 1993. Johnny’s musical training is on keyboards, percussion, and vocals, and he is self-taught on bass and guitar. Based in Williamsport, PA, Johnny is a producer-arranger, singer-songwriter, and recording artist in his own right. He has released a string of acclaimed recordings—including Fire and Grateful, CDs on which Davy makes guest appearances. Johnny has also worked with artists such as The Badlees, Buddy and Julie Miller, and Michael Roe (The 77s). Johnny has also been caught jamming with Beyondo, James Brown’s Funkmasters, Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick), Patrick Moraz, Peter Tork, and Felipe Torres. Johnny also hosts “The Billtown Bus Stop Radio Hour” every Monday evening on a National Public Radio affiliate. Podcasts of shows can be heard here. Johnny’s guests have included Davy, Mike Garson (David Bowie’s pianist), In Musth (with Felipe Torres), and other notables. Davy likes to point at Johnny’s legs. Years ago, Johnny was a bike messenger in San Francisco, riding about twenty miles a day and accumulating over 20,000 miles of road time. He is an exercise and health enthusiast (making exceptions for lots of coffee), an avid reader, and likes to watch film noir. Visit Johnny’s web site for sound clips, a YouTube channel (with videos of Davy and the band), and more. |
